The trick about presentation design is in what I think of as “partitioning information”. Making data pretty is one thing, but the real challenge is in conveying the information of a presentation in a way that is still digestible. Combining language, infographics, and data requires understanding the intention of the message, as well as understanding the audience. It’s taken me awhile to find the right balance of how much a viewer can take in while ensuring a presentation has good flow. Once the flow of a presentation is set, you can really dial in the design, by giving the information space to breathe and then adding in the finer details of the design.
